Hi All

The VPA Committee wishes to thank everyone who was involved in making the Winter Show a success on Saturday. We all had a jolly good day.

It was great to be back and the judges were delighted with all the entries.

The winners for all the classes and the cups awarded are now listed on the web site, www.lgvpa.org together with some lovely photos.

Thanks to Andrew Sheard for managing the results for us, they were up on the web site before people left the hall!

We asked for and appreciated receiving feedback, both verbally and written. To encourage you to also give us feedback, here are a few examples:

  • classes to be advised much earlier;
  • delivery of schedules to every house please;
  • layout of hall for viewing and prize giving;
  • liked the encouraging comments from the judges;
  • please display photographs in a more prominent way;
  • entries shouldn’t get awarded a prize if not to specification;
  • judges drank too much of my sloe gin!

If you have any feedback / ideas to add, please do email us (hello@lgvpa.org) or speak to any of the Committee to enable us to take into account for the Summer Show schedule (Saturday 27 August).

With the August show in mind and the planting season not that far away we will be having all the usual fruit and vegetable classes. We always wish to be very inclusive here at the VPA, please don’t bin the ugly wonky veg or the largest, longest, heaviest etc because we’ll have special classes for those fellows! Spring is around the corner so we can get out into the garden and get started fairly soon.

Just a reminder that the AGM Wine and Cheese and Horatio Gardens talk is on Wednesday 27 April at the new Thomas Field Church Hall at the side of the church from 7pm.

Also the annual Plant sale is on 22 May in the Village hall car park. Plant donations always welcomed.

Look forward to seeing you at the AGM
