“Where have all the flowers gone” ……. I woke up with this song in my head, the committee having discussed what might be possible to organise on Sunday 24 May 2020 for the VPA PLANT SALE (10.00am to 12noon). The flowers, and indeed vegetables, have far from gone with everything having started to sprout and flourish very early this year.
We are aware that some people have grown extra for donation to the sale and consequently we have evaluated how to organise safely, a fairly low key Plant Sale (no cakes this year).
If you anticipate having some plant donations please let us know; either telephone – Sue Godar on 01442 842274 or email – hello@lgvpa.org. Perhaps you have divided some perennials from your gardens, or have some self-seeds that can be potted up, all of which could be donated along with any other plants you have in excess of your needs. Identity labelling of all plants donated appreciated.
- There will be five tables spread across the VH car park split between:
- Vegetables
- Perennials
- Herbs
- Bedding
- Houseplants
- A one-way system will operate with signs indicating where to go.
- One person at a time at each table.
- Cash payments only
- box will be clearly identified (no change will be available).
- the April annual household subscription of £5 can be paid if not already done so.
- If you have already been a recipient of plants from the bottom of the driveway at 20 LG, we will be pleased to receive your donations.
- From 9.00am on 24 May 2020 plant donations can safely be dropped off at the left-hand-side of the VH car park. (Sale will not open until 10.00am)
- Anyone driving to Church Road – all cars must be parked in the Bowls Club car park observing all social distancing rules once you exit your car. Please bring bags/boxes to carry your purchases.
- Pre-arranged safe collection of plants is available on 22 and 23 May by Alastair Greene. Please let us know if this is of interest to you as soon as possible so we can make arrangements – telephone Alastair – 01442 843667 or email hello@lgvpa.org.
- Any supplies required from the Store can be ordered by emailing – store@lgvpa.org. No access to the Store on the day but supplies can be requested via Phil Bunting who will organise accordingly.
Our “Social Distancing Plant Sale” will hopefully be a little light relief after these past weeks of such a changed lifestyle for us all. As the weather has been conducive to gardening everybody will have a head start and be keen to get hold of some extra plants. We look forward to seeing you, at a distance, and thank you in advance for whatever contribution you are able to make.
